The outlook from our room (18) was nothing short of spectacular.Every sunset was fantastic and the crowds every night above you waiting and watching were evidence of this. The porter service of carrying your bags to/ from checkin is a must for all.Tipping is your decision but after doing the steps down to Oia Mare villas you will have no hesitation Restuarant above the villa is a good choice.
Just beware of the many steep steps to Oia Mare. Not a desination for physically challenged people
Probably the only place in the world that the reality is much more beautiful than the photos!pure joy!!!Great value and warm hospitality. We arrived at night (later than expected) and Delese the person in charge, was the model of helpfulness and a gracious host. The view, the suites and the staff are top notch!!!
יThe location was outstanding, the vew of the sea the opposit ilands is seen from the room and from anywhere in the hotel/ the pool is small but offers a great place to relax in quite enviorment. The room is very simple and decorated with good taset
Breakfast is too basic and we missed good coffee o start the day
The view of the sunset is spectacular.
The only good thing about this hotel is the location, the single room had no aircon or fan which made it very hot and the bathroom was the quality of a 1 star hotel. If you are after a great view of the sunset then stay here but be prepared to pay for it.
Thanks the hotel staff for the wine which made our honeymoon much sweeter!
The location in Oia was fantastic! It couldn't be better. The view was the best of any place I have ever stayed. The rooms were quite large for our family of four: Two bedrooms. It was extremely clean. The pool was nice for our two teenage children to cool off at the end of the day of activities. I recommend taking the hotel up on the transfer to and from the airport. It is worth it since it is hard to find the hotel and there are around 300 stairs involved. They brought the luggage right to the room and picked it up from the room as well.
I believe we stayed in room 11. The view is spectacular from there and it was wonderful to cool off in the pool after a long day of sightseeing/ shopping. Even though there are numerous stairs, we enjoyed the fact that they became easier to climb during our time there. I suppose one could call the stairs the exercise portion of a spa experience. The staff were exceptionally accommodating. They made drinks and snacks for us poolside and made calls for us to reserve or alter dining arrangements or to make inquiries about specific excursions on our behalf. We would definitely stay at the Oia Mare Villas again.
If you are even moderately fit, then it is well worth it to stay here. That being said, I think it is important to note that this hotel is not designed for persons with really small children (I.E., strollers) or individuals with an ambulatory disability because of the numerous stairs along the cliffside. The aspects that makes this place so special also tend to be difficult for individuals with special needs. Its just something that I think deserves noting.
fantastic setting! built into a cliff in the side of a caldera. Rooms very unique as they are cave rooms. Friendly, helpfull staff. Take the advice of the transfer from the ferry port. Very difficult to find and luggage very difficult to do yourself. They have a very hard working porter that will take the bags for you down to the room and then back up the numerous, steep stone stairs. Give him a big tip! My kids said it was the best hotel they have stayed and we travel a lot. Would ask for one of the 2 story rooms if just 2 of us staying.
I really liked everything. Stuff was really helpfull and friendly. Unbelievable view from the balcony. If I go again to Santorini I would love to stay there again.
Location was incredible!! Right at the spot where sunsets are best in Oia. Every morning to wake to the cliffs and seaview! Staff were all excellent especially the manager, and several others (Xena, the porter). Quaint (but basic) room for 3 of us (couple travelling with elderly parent) but beware the stairs to the Villas - not for anyone with heart condition! Nice pool for dips in summer heat. Only 22 rooms so not overcrowded. Would definitely stay there again for ambiance, hospitality, and the fairytale views!
Room was a bit dated (ie. New wiring needed for tv aerial, so wasn't working, no proper jug for making tea/coffee + basic cooking facilities, shower was basic)
Overall condition of rooms was poor.
The views and location were unbelievable. We really loved the pool, as well. The hotelier was very hospitable and helpful.
We were surprised that there were no toiletries for the bathroom made available during our stay - not even soap (never mind shampoo or lotion).
View is excellent, charming atmosphere.
It is not for the unfit or poor knees. The walk is long and steep to the property which was fine for us as we are fit. It would be terrible if you had any wLking or balance problems.
the view from the balcony of the sunset was the only positive thing I can say for a room costing 170 euros. I was not even possible to get a bottle of water from reception, and having to book the bag transfer in one location and the airport transfer in another was rediculous
Where to start, the pool was filthy and about two feet below the surrounding area. The room (a junior suite) was cramped with the bed consisting of two mattresses on the floor with no space to move around. I could go on but suffice to say this was the worst hotel and value for money on the five islands we stayed on.
We only stayed one night on Santorini Island and wanted to get the most out of our stay by being right in the centre of Oia. The pictures shown for this hotel do not lie, the location is truly amazing right on the cliff and watching the sunset from here is what it's all about. The room and private balcony we had were very comfortable. The swimming pool proves its worth once you have walked down the hill for a seafood lunch at the small port and walk back up the hill in the heat. The staff is very friendly and thankfully takes care of transporting your luggage from the taxi stand down the steps to the hotel and vice versa. Following on from other recommendations I read before booking this hotel, if you are in Santorini for a short period of time, don't waste time in transit and stay right in Oia to take in the majestic views during the day and tranquil atmosphere during the evening and night.
